I've been an ardent PC GAMER since I learn the use of the computer keyboard back in my primary school days but Electronic Gaming started earlier than that...during my kindergarten years ;]

So goes to show that I've been into GAMING before COSPLAY and PHOTOGRAPHY came. However, I've lost interest in it since PC Gaming is somewhat tedious due to the fact that

1. You must have the NEWEST HARDWARE to play the NEWEST GAMES.
2. You must have your newest OPERATING SYSTEM to operate the NEWEST HARDWARE
3. You install the GAMES into your PC (not like the consoles where you pop the DVD in and you're GAME), which takes time.

So far I'm having a simple P4, 1GB Ram and a basic ATI X1650 Display card which made me unable to play any game that came out after 2007 but...

THAT HAS CHANGED SINCE 27TH OF MAY

I replaced my old hardware with the following

My P4 2.4Ghz(Single Core) ----> AMD X2 7750+
My 1GB DDR Ram ---------------> Kingston 4GB DDR2
My X1650 Display -------------> Sapphire Vapor-X HD4850 1GB

and I've just reawaken my PC GAMER again...now I've been spending my time with

Red Alert 3

Hellgate London

Crysis

Last Remnant

And due to these Games influences, I've though about possible cosplay plans thanks to them

I sometimes regret not learning the TWO WHEELED VEHICLE last time.

There goes a time when a man's gotta take into account of the things he missed out when he was a kid and somehow regretted missing it.

So I make this post just to tell you just that. I somewhat regretted not learning the bicycle and ultimately not learning the motobike let alone have a license to ride one. Usually this would not be a problem since I drive car to work and practically everywhere I go.

But for my photoclub's incoming photography outing to Pangkor Island this weekend, riding a motorbike is essential since it is convenient and a fun way to travel around the island. And without it, I could not travel easily across the island to shoot photos...so far no one have offered to take me along. Maybe its dangerous to travel on a bike with a 230++ pounds load on your back.

DEFINITELY I COULD NOT LEARN THE BIKE AND GET A LICENSE IN A FEW DAYS TIME. EITHER I MANAGED TO GET A BIKER ON THE DAY ITSELF OR HITCH A RIDE SHOULD ANYONE DECIDE TO RENT A CAR OR VAN. WORSE COMES TO WORSE, I'LL WALK AROUND THE ISLAND AND HOPEFULLY BURN SOME FATS IN THE PROCESS.

NO TIME TO CRY AND BE REMORSEFUL ON THIS...I CANNOT CHANGE THE PAST BUT I COULD TRY MY BEST TO MOLD THE FUTURE!!!

BY JUNE(IF MY FINANCES IS OK), I'LL GET MYSELF A MOUNTAIN BIKE AND LEARN THE ROPES OF THE TWO WHEELED VEHICLES FOR THE NEXT SIX TO SEVEN MONTHS. AFTER THAT, I'LL GET THE MOTORBIKE LICENSE SO THAT I WON'T NEED TO DEPEND ON OTHER ANYMORE.

As mentioned previously, there's many a thing happening to me and tons of things to do.

First at the 18th FIP (Foto Imej Perak...my photoclub) Annual General Meeting 2009 on the
21st March 2009 where EXCO and Committee members are elected and voted into office.

I got nominated

And I got voted into office as FIP Comittee Member.

So, I'll be busy as a Committee member...helping the club as it organizes things...heard that I'm gonna be doing the club activity emails to all members.
Also hopefully, I hope to learn as much as possible on photography within this time frame.

Cosplay plans for 2009

Now I'm feeling a little drenched out and sick due to Weather induced FLU and Stomach Upset..might be mild food poisoning also. But I'm strong enough to go to work and post this journal. A little rest and relaxation with lots of PATIENCE will be my Remedy of the day.

OKOK...to start off my first journal entry for 2009, I'm gonna talk about my cosplay plans for 2009.
For starters, I'm going to do many cosplays this year. Two of them gonna be Recycled ones

1. DOC OCK

DOC OCK is not pleased with his debut at Comic Fiesta last month and wants to ENCORE this GACC in August but repairs need to be made on his tentacles and mechanical robotic fingers at once for that to happen.

2. DOCTOR DOOM

After THREE years in Hibernation. DOCTOR DOOM will return as his movie persona at Cosfest 2009 hopefully to turn heads as he did last time in 2005.

Apart from recycled ones, I also planned to do three new ones which I've been planning...one since before the advent of DOCTOR DOOM while the other two, just recently.

3. RADITZ OF DRAGONBALL

After watching Dragonball Z's newest OVA, I got the urge to do Dragonball cosplay and the only one with I could think off is Raditz...Goku's Evil and Bad Ass Brother.

4. PHOENIX IKKI OF SAINT SEIYA

I've been watching Saint Seiya again recently and it suddenly occurred to me. I should do a Saint Seiya Cosplay since it is also one of my favorite Anime series since Form 1. So gonna plan to do my favorite character...THE MOST POWERFUL BRONZE SAINT OF THEM ALL, PHOENIX IKKI.

5. DEATH KNIGHT LORD SOTH OF DRAGONLANCE

And for the great FINALE...The Mother of All Cosplay Projects of 2009. The Character which fascinated me since I was a child when I saw for the first time his image on a T-Shirt. The Fallen Knight of Solemnia, Lord Laurent Soth of Dragonlance Saga.

GUESS FOR 2009, IT IS STILL A YEAR FOR BAD ASS AND EVIL CHARACTER FOR ME. HAHA

Dear Santa,

This year I've been busy!

Last Wednesday I signed my organ donor card (28 points). Last Monday blood_angel12 and I robbed a bank (-50 points). In October I donated bone marrow to fox_sama in a life-saving procedure (300 points). Last Saturday I bought porn for hisashi_glay (10 points). In February I helped sky_pegasus hide a body (-173 points).

Overall, I've been nice (115 points). For Christmas I deserve a new bike!

Suddenly had the URGE to Sketch

With regard to my previous POST...I've an infatuation with the story of Joan of Arc AKA Jeanne De Arc. Last night, my fingers suddenly act on itself and I produce three of the following, which would be the main characters of my possible doujin for 2009...the continuation of my 2004 Doujin...THE GOD`WARRIORS

She fought her captors until as always got herself employed by them. As her first assignment, she would accompany a Burgundian noble to the town of Rouen where the inhabitants know her too well there.

So that's about it...after brainstorming for the past few days.

something just came up and it somehow distracted me from my DOC OCK Project at least in my mind but the work is still continuing even with this distraction.

I've always been an admirer of Warrior Women and Tough Chicks(just a satire...not in anyway insulting the fairer sex). And no one better to fit that bill than JEANNE DE ARC aka JOAN OF ARC...the French Heroine who don male attire and armor when she heard voices of God to aid the French King against the forces of the English and its allies. However, she was struck down, capture and burnt alive for her 'crimes' against them.

This had been an inspiration for my 2004 Comic Fiesta Doujin(THE GODWARRIORS) btw. And after so many year, I've not thought of that till I bought this PSP Game

Which is the reason I bought the PSP in the first place but I didn't play it that much(the collect more Games Syndrome) till the past week and I was hooked after playing it for more than 5 hours per day.

Suddenly, I have inspiration to continue where my Doujin have left off.

TALE OF COSGRAPHER-PART 5D (CIRCA 2006)

Its been a while since I've written about THE COSGRAPHER and here it is again

Warning : Extremely Long Post with Pictures(Caution For small Bandwidths)

A LITTLE CHANGE IN ME
After being bomb-blasted by my peers as well as my own tortured thoughts...it was time to meet them again and see if I would be bomb-blasted...this time broadcast LIVE in front of me as I decided to join the Cosplay chess try outs at Taman Paramount. There, I met some old friends...DAI, GINGER as well as new ones like Mintos and Ballistic Dragon.

The whole try-out was a mess but there were breakthroughs along the way. All in all it was FUN FUN outing...guess my fears are unfounded but some of them have a certain coolness in their voices when I talked to them...best be cautious when speaking.

More on these, I've learn much from advice from Kenneth, Dad and a whole bunch of people as well as from THE SECRET. No point dwelling on this predicament but look forward to the future for me and the people that I love.

AFTER ALL THESE, ITS BEST TO CONTINUE MY WORK
Well, all these excitement have really caused my time making my comicFiesta project but I managed to get it ready a little...bit by bit,

The costume was ready on time. And its really a massive costume with layers upon layers of red and yellow paint.

A LITTLE TIME OFF FROM ALL THAT
Finally after these encounters, I was more comfortable to go back into shooting cosplays again. So went one day trips to KL for two days of shooting the Anicom Event at Sungai Wang plaza.
It was through these events that I got to know Choco-lime, Miki, Kikyo and many others. Hopefully these encounters would be friendly at best. So from there...bus ride, sleep, go to venue, eat, shoot photos, rush back to the bus terminal and take a slow ride back to Ipoh.
Once I'm back, its continue with my Kikuchiyo Project.

ONWARDS TO COMICFIESTA!!!
Nothing much happen a few weeks before Comic Fiesta except that I've once again disturb the hornets nest with a simple greeting to my main critic and suddenly...one of her friends blasted me with the following...just because I mentioned photographic and cosplay FUN.

"YOU'RE REALLY DENSE FOR NOT KNOWING WHAT WE JUST SAID"
"STAY AWAY FROM US"
"KEEP YOUR STOOPID CAMERA OUT OF OUR FACES"
*Can't really remember the exact word though*

After that I tried to sending them an email explaining and maybe a little irritating piece of my mind as well but I never did receive any reply from them.

Okay apart from that...nothing really major happened except that my Ipoh coser friends are really disappointed with the local tailor which usually make the cosplay costumed for us.

COMICFIESTA 2006
Day one was just for photos...shooting shooting shooting and more shooting...didn't meet my critics that day but I was sincerely hoping I could at least meet them and shake their hands in the most gentlemanly way.
The only drawback of the day is the lack of food and that horrible soggy fries + yucky crab burgers sold there.

The second day was the main event where I don the Kikuchiyo Costume and was it heavy!!! Was struggling with the weight and my hungry tummy as well as hordes of people wanting to take photos of me.

Finally the cosplay Chess event where I'm one of the finalist! Went there do battle and broke my sword in the process...(><)
However, I didn't get to the final five of the Best cosplayer competition but I did get a special price of 'BEST CRAFTMANSHIP' Sweet!!! :D :D :D

To add to my satisfaction, I got to shake hands with my nemesis whom is a little reluctant to do so. But it was in good faith that we did. A personal victory for myself and I rather not gloat about it since it was that that landed me the 'unwarranted publicity' in the first place.

Also it was this event that I got to know a Singaporean cosplayer...Evelyn.

However, the bad thing about ComicFiesta 2006 is that I lost my handphone for the second time that year....Motorola V360....GRRRrrrrrrrrr!!!!

ENDING THE YEAR WITH A HAPPY NOTE
After ComicFiesta, I attended an unofficial outing and got to know many other cosplayers and friends as well....FireFoxFlame, Frack, CoffeePing, Pineapple Miki, GukiChan and many more. Drawback of the outing, I slipped and fell the next day at Sungai Wang plaza(Damn Slippery Boots) and hurt mah knee OUCH! OUCH!! OUCH!!!

Other evens include the Penang AGC Event at the last days of 2006 was not as popular as ComicFiesta but its was fun nonetheless. Bagged me another award...a GIANT MOSHIMARU Tee Hee Hee!!!
Right after that a Penang Street shoot with the Penang Photokakis led by the the Distinguished LOCTOR MAYAT...STEAM LAH!!!

I guess, I could place the turbulent events of 2006 behind me after these HAPPY encounters but sometimes, i still taked about it with friends and reflect on it....hopefully I wouldn't want to have it happening again.

01. What was your first cosplay?
It was in 2002. I cosplayed Ralf Jones of King Of Fighters 95 at the Gempak Comics Event in May at Sungai Wang Plaza. It was my first time and I got some parts of the costume incorrect and my character was mistaken to be Shingo Yabuki instead. Haha but it was a start.

02. Did someone get you into cosplay? Or on your own?
It was Tenkawa Sensei who took me from my mundane cikgu job into the illustrious world of Cosplay a few years after getting to know him from his AGC shop in Ipoh.

03. What is your favourite cosplay?
DR DOOM at CF2005 and Kikuchiyo at CF2006.

04. Which is your least favourite?
Richter Belmont at CF2003 and Raoh of GACC08.

5. At conventions, do people compliment you on your cosplays?
Most complements would be 'WOW, COOL Armor' and most of the time, People would compliment me by simply having their photos taken with me...YAY!!!

6. How many have you done?

I've not thought of Crossplaying just yet since most female character have a rather slender line figure which I don't have.

9. What male cosplay do you want to do most?
Most armor cosplays would fit my bill but I would like to do a Spartan Warrior(not a '300' Spartan mind you). As for which Character I would want to do? I'll go for LORD SOTH...he is EVIL but a tragic Story behind his Descent from Noble Knight to Notorious Death Knight.

10. What do you prefer to do, make or buy your costumes?
I usually buy something similar and modify them from there. Also the Armors I use...I made them myself.

11. Your most memorable experience? What makes it so memorable?
Most memorable was my First Armor Experience during CF2004 which I cosplayed as RO Crusader. I got the 'Celebrity' feel for the first time in my life...being hounded for Photographs haha

12. Your dream cosplay?
Well what's listed above will be my Dream Cosplays. The cosplays I wanna do before I die.

13. Is there a pattern in your cosplays? If so, what?
My Modus Operandi would be ARMOR, ARMOR, ARMOR, ARMOR...No more guessing.

14. Your most recent cosplay?
My most recent would be Raoh The Conqueror at GACC2008 but at CF2008, I would come as both Chainmail Soldier of Kingdom of Heaven(Movie) and DOC OCK of MARVEL UNIVERSE.

Both...Alone since not many people follow my style and Group would be FUN when you're with Friends.

Was going to cancel all my credit cards except for one on Tuesday but i found out I got about 35K++ of points after 8 years of usage...I could have redeem cash which would be credited into the credit cards for my usage but I ended up with this instead

All the points GONE and have to top up another RM170 for it...I need double the points if I want it for free. Anyway, I'll need to wait for another three weeks for it to arrive. Guess I won't be getting rid of the credit cards that soon...at least until after getting the gift har har har

Anyhow, I 'll be sleeping soon...tired after the whole day SCREAMING at the top of my lungs INSTRUCTIONS during my College Sports Week Badminton match. Finally, its over....okie dokie, be enjoying the rest of the week and Hari Raya Week Break after that with PS2 gaming, Cosplay making and Photography. ^_^

A LITTLE RELATIVE CALMNESS
After Cosfest, there is still a short time frame for a little photography along the way. Had a short cosplay shoot at DR Seenivasagam Recreational Park in Ipoh. Cosplayer is Chris and he's the Hitsugaya of Cosfest 2006

The shoot happened in the afternoon and I was sweating a lot...I guess Chris was sweating even more. The shoot ended less than an hour due to unbearable weather and I kinda out of ideas of how to shoot.
That night we went together with Kenneth to shoot 'Lady White Snake' Opera in Batu Gajah till midnight...dead tired after that.

The following week...I went for my annual Bon Odori outing in Penang with the Ipoh Cosers. This year wasn't too impressive since the seaside venue is closed due to repair works and the replacement venue is hot and small. And due to the fact that this place is close to residential area, there was no fireworks this time(one of the main attractions of Bon Odori Festival).

Through this outing, I got to know about the COMPLAINTS and CRITICISMS of my peers from the Cosplay Community. The information was rather vague(apart from the name of the person who complained about me) but it wasn't long before the SLEDGEHAMMER of these critiques SMASHES straight into me.

STRIKE ONE
It started when I decided to make a LifeJournal Blog myself. And I decided to add coser friends into my friends-list within the Blog but I bumped into the LJ of my complainer and the full force of the complain bear down on my like an Atomic Bomb...apart from the NASTY Entry, it was supported verbally thru replied like

Worst most of the people who verbally supported the complainer and atomic bombed me with their words are not just strangers in the blog but people I know in the cosplay community...a few of them I regard them as my Sempais too...the people who inspired me to cosplay.

I started to think what did I do wrong...many question but without any answers in sight. ANGRY, FRUSTRATED and CONFUSED...I made a heading on my MSN asking my main Critic to contact me. The critic contacted me and some truth of what triggered this reaction was kown to me

1. The so-called MSN message I said in January."I'M GONNA MAKE A COSAPLY SO GREAT THAT THEY ARE BEGGING TO INTERVIEW ME"
2. At a local forum, we 'cocky' signature as well as supporting a friend who is not at the good books of other trigger some malaise as well.
3. My antics during the bus ride to Cosfest.
4. Th way i talked in the forums regarding my Cosplay and Photography
5. Me not acting my age
lastly
6. Shot off my mouth at a Singapore Cosplay forum really ticked lots of people off

Mentioned by this critic of mine. So after this chat, I decided to STFU for now hopefully it would die down but it didn't, at least not in my mind. I had troubling vision of the people around me are giving me the eye and taunting me mercilessly because of this incident.

STRIKE TWO
Not knowing who to turn to, I did confine this matter this matter to the closest person I know would help me...My DAD and Kenneth. The former gave me sound advice of letting it go while the latter...berated me for my conduct...on this matter as well as how I handle myself last may(regarding the 'betrayal' of Ex-Mentor Tan)...Kenneth's criticism of me was a SLAP to the face of my EGO and CHILDISHNESS. Talking about it non-stop didn't help either...perhaps he's tired of giving me the same advice which I'm unable to digest.
Not only that...another photographer did the same thing over MSN of my conduct on this whole matter.

ALMOST STRIKE THREE
STRIKE THREE and I'm out...yes but nearly. From that time all stops were put on my photography and cosplay projects. It seemed I would not take up a camera or make armor for cosplay ever again...however, Kenneth criticism was not without merit...there were sound advice in it to advocate a change in my life's education...also I prefer FRIENDS like Kenneth who would tell me the Naked Truth straight at my face rather than Sugar-coating it to avoid hurting me(which will hurt me even more when I learn the real thing)
DAD's the one who really helped me alot and his pieces of advice really help me get a grip of myself as I talked to him more about it. He also introduced me to

THE SECRET and it helped me a lot along the way.

From these lesson in life, I managed to salvage my flagging spirit and pick up the pieces of where I left off. The time wasted on anxiety and grief have robbed me of many months which should be used for preparing for my cosplay for ComicFiesta 2006.

To soften my EGO...I decided to change cosplay

From Lord Soth to Kikuchiyo. From an ARROGANT, EVIL VILLIAN to a LOUD MOUTHED, UNPOLISHED RUFFIAN but GOOD NATURED, GENTLE GIANT...perhaps I could change people's perception of me thru this.

Timing was the essence and I had to work on a hurried time frame and making something like this is totally different from what I had the last time.

October was coming and so is my Hari Raya week long break. There was a outing with some of my Cosplay Friends and Peers which I decide to join as well...I was wondering if I was still hated by them or not...besides I need to go KL that day to pick up something for Kenneth...so I decided to take the plunge and see what the Cosplay community had in-store for me...hopefully it would be a pleasant one.

AFTERMATH OF THE MAY CAMERA SEMINAR
The seminar did gave me mix feeling with all these criticisms of this and that coming from all directions.It was not really to my taste. With my photofriends Ronnie, Kenneth, Cassandra, Josh, Gordon and the others, we had a few 'off the beaten track' photoshoots during the weekend to keep us busy.

It wasn't long before one of my photofriends told me what mentor tan told him when they met somewhere. He said

"ADRIAN IS NOT HAPPY WITH HIS CAMERA AND WOULD WANT TO CHANGE SYSTEMS"

I was thinking, "what the heck?". So far i only commented to him about some of my camera's short-coming but never in my mind, i was going to change systems besides I've purchased many things(lenses,flash,accessories,etc) to even consider changing.
But it wasn't long before i receive a phone call from mentor tan regarding
"SELL YOUR CAMERA GEARS NOW OR YOU'LL REGRET LATER. AS A FRIEND, I JUST WANT THE BEST FOR YOU"

So, that got me thinking but it took me a while to get to my senses that this deal to too raw to digest...it means I have to sell my gears at low prices and pay a considerable sum just for the same thing. Not only that, he also invited me and my photofriends to a teh-tarik session with one of the seminar speakers...that whole night was rounds upon rounds of brand bashing and trying to 'convince' us to defect. However, one of us did...she traded her Nikon d70s for a Canon 350d...well its her choice.

However, my decision is made...I'm holding on to my guns for now on. I didn't take it too well and showed quite a blacked indifferent face the whole time...not sure if they noticed it but Kenneth did...in which he berated me on that(me showing that face rather than a poker face) but he too is holding onto his guns too.

From this debacle, guess I've lost the trust i have to mentor tan and was eager to remove the word mentor from him and
Decided instead to rename him as Mr. Big apertures...from his usual advice to all photographers

"use large apertures to shoot" ; "large apertures always give the best pictures"
And almost everything about the same thing....large apertures

TOPSY TURVY IN SINGAPORE
Yes, that's the first time I'm going to Singapore, first time I'm going so far out and first time going out of Malaysia...the euphoria was too much to handle. And since its the first time I'm going, I decided to meet up with a friend so that we could go together to KL. At least I'm alone when 'disaster' strike and we could help each other out.

Everything went according to plan...met Coser [D]from Teluk Intan at the bus station...took the 7pm bus and reached KL at 10pm...waited a couple of hours for Coser [A] who bought the bus tickets to Singapore and we all boarded it at midnight.
On this bus, we were not alone...many KL cosplayers were taking the same bus as well. My thoughts were "THE MORE THE MERRIER"
However, from the initial stage of this trip, i got to know that Coser [A] had some sort of tiff will Coser [B], another friend of mine over an incident a few weeks ago. Guess this trip might be as simple as it is but i kept quite.

Then the bus stopped at rest area where we had some food...it was then i whipped out my camera and took photos of my friends and and the other cosers...it didn't take long before some of them voice their displeasure. Instead of cease and desist action, I teased them and played around with my flashgun...which is not a good thing to do and perhaps I'm still a photo-newbie and a camera-noob that time, I did not know the moral conduct of a photographer and the fragile relations of cosplayer-photographer. Those actions I did that day will turn on me pretty soon but I'll talk about that later.

Upon reaching Singapore, we were greeting by

Ray-wing...Yes! The same Ray-wing I met during my first time cosplaying in 2002. He took all of us to THE HIVE which is a travel lodge close by...and after early breakfast...about 5am, me, Coser[A] and Coser [D] decided to join the rest staying at THE HIVE. However, due to my handphone's inability to make calls in Singapore and some blur blur thinking of that time, I wasn't able to contact the friend who booked a hotel for us...causing her much anxiety and ultimate pissed with all of us...ANOTHER BLUNDER!!!

Next was to take a look around the City...went to CityCenter to checkout the cameras and stuffs...bought a few camera accessories on the way. About the same time Coser [B] wanted to meet everyone for a quick get-together...something I avoided should he want to get his hands of Coser [A], I certainly be the contact to be...so I decided to avoid so...not sure if this decision of mine is also a BLUNDER like the last one.

Nothing much happen next but a walk at Orchard Roan and a good night sleep before Cosfest the Next day.

COSFEST V : THE REUNION
Before the FUN of Cosfest starts, I was confronted by my KL friends regarding Coser [A] and Coser [B]'s side of the story what actually happen during the event surrounding the tiff between them but my decision stays on not taking sides on this one and letting them deal with it themselves.

So off we went for Cosfest 2006

However, I found out later these groovy coser are not cosers like you and me but employees of a Singaporean Movie Distribution Company. That's why their costume are so elaborate and like the real thing.
Another thing during Cosfest is I sign in for the Cosplay competition and went on a Mafia performance of beating up imaginary enemies at the cost of busting my Monopod...there goes RM100 (><)

After the event, there was no time to waste and we took the 6.30 pm bus back to KL...similar to the first....the KL cosplayers are on board as well. During the bus trip, I was advised not to take anymore photos on the way back which I complied. Reach KL about 1am...just in time to catch the last match of World Cup 2006.

So all in all Cosfest 2006 was FUN if I don't take the topsy tuvey stuffs into consideration and hoping go there again the following year. But events are unfolding that would turn my world upside down as I would tell you about it next.

AT THE START OF 2006
After getting my first award from Cosplay and I was really not myself for a long time...talking about it, teasing friends about it and of course I might have bragged about it as well.
However, that ended later when CNY came and still I was bitten by the Cosplay photoshoot bug that I had to organize one...in Ipoh. Took the opportunity that some cosers would return to their hometown in Ipoh for the new year.
I managed to get hold of a few who happen to come back

MIAKA
CHIBI-NEKO
ELIE

Since this was my first time, I did not do something very important that is....getting permission to shoot at the place...so we were somehow told to leave but managed to change location to a public recreation park instead but by then it was already 11am and the heat was killing.

The other fella came as well both Daniel and Chris to liven up the atmostphere. also JunJun(Freelancer) was there as well weeeee...more the merrier

She and Nunchi came late but better late than never...so shooting continues till afternoon and we adjurned. Later went for a movie with Elie and Chibi-Neko...damme tired after that sleep like a log LOL

A MELAKA TRIP IN MARCH
Before the CNY shoot, I got to know about the Games Anime Comics Circle 2006 at Multimedia University Malacca. It will be my first time actually going to Malacca on my own...went there before with my family.

With everything to lose, I decide to feed my cosplay libido with another armor cosplay

Crusader Paul De Raque

Started working on it all they way, recycled my RO crusader coat broadsword made from foam and helmet made from a wastepaper basket covered with aluminium...I went my way in March.

Met Snake Eyes and stayed at Hanzo's place before going to Malacca!!!

Got my costume ready but the helmet's made in such a way...it didn't really fit correctly. Had to realign it as i walked and its really heavy phew.....><

Also I tried to reincoperate both cosplay and photography but its was as difficult as it is. however I did a few shot using my film camera while my friend, James shot the rest using my DSLR camera.

Met Dryad and Elie again, a month after we did the shoot during CNY haha

Met Wildrive and Kazeki whom I met during CF2005 at GACC too. Guess the cosplay bliss is getting to my head :]

Yup, you said it...lots of people and cosers at GACC06.

Did not win anything this time unlike in CF2005 but it was all fun and games.
Took a Sunday 5pm bus back...trust me for not buying the tickets earlier (><)

BACK TO IPOH TO KL AND BACK AGAIN
After GACC...there was the MMCC event at Sungai Wang where my friends cosplayed while I shot photos of them...i didn't cosplayed at all that time...I literally went there shoot shoot shoot and return the same day.

I went there twice.

On the 9th of April...I went there with a photofriend but the place was extremely crowded...spoil most of our mood to shoot. Another incident is...my photofriend had a tiff with a cosplayer over a misunderstanding which greatly marred the feel of the event itself.

Miss the next event and went there on the last day of the event with Elie...no tiffs or misunderstandings this time...phew.

Photos of this event is lost due to the webpage I posted them on(zoto.com) turned commercial and my free account was deleted. But little did I know my troubles are about to start.

CANON PHOTO SEMINAR IN MAY
My photclub...Foto Imej Perak have an understanding with Canon and all of us attended its seminar regarding the news cameras Canon had to offer...Canon 350D, Canon 30D and Canon 1DS MK2. Just for the fun of it and the free lunch included...I went there.

As usual brand wise bashing my the speaker and the trial of the camera, lenses and other things.It was alright until right a few weeks after the event.

The incident when I lost a photography mentor and the realization that there are many dimensions to the world of photography and the people who are in it. All which will be talked about next.

BEFORE COMIC FIESTA 2005
In October, I got to know a Cosplay Photoshoot organized by PIN so i decided to join in. And through my cousins' weddings i mentioned before, I hooked up with a long lost cousin of mine named Nick who so happens to be using a Nikon D70s DSLR. He so happens to know Miaka...one of the cosplayers back then in 2002.

So I took a bus to KL...stayed at Ancasa Hotel and then took a cab to the Secret Garden which is actually Hibiscus Gardens of Taman Tasik Perdana(one of the big recreational parts in Kuala Lumpur). As i reached there, cousin Nick arrived as well but when we reach the main entrance there were no one...only to find out that everyone was dressing up for the shoot. There I got to know a few new cosplay friends

BUNNY CHAN, T304(SAMANTHA), CAMELIA AND ROXANNE

I didn't really know how to shoot cosplayers except the time I did at Comicfiesta. This is a real photoshoot but luckily there's cousin Nick to give me directions...it was quite a real fun time. As for T304, she's the same cosplayer during the 2002 cosplay event and the Malice Mizer coser the year before...ORZ only after the event that I know that (><)
Anyway shooting continues even when I was hungry haha...shooting continues till another group joined us as well...get to know even more cosplay friends hehe

LAVENA, WILD-DRIVE, KITSUNEI And Yuu-chan.

Shot continuously till 6pm before stopping at MidValley Megamall for a drink before going back.
Join Kenneth for supper...he was working in KL that time though...it was a really fun day even if I was dead tired.

A DAY BEFORE COMIC FIESTA 2005
Since no one was free on this day, I decided to scour the whole of KL for a dream lens of mine,

Nikon 50mm AFD F1.8

Travelled North, South, East and West of Kuala Lumpur...using bus, LRT, train and even monorail, I could not get this lens...not even 2nd hand. So ended up with a remote control instead.

However, the not too fresh curry noodles and got drenched with a light rain made me sick for whole evening. Had to recuperate before my stint of Comic Fiesta the next day...took Panadol Soluble and hope that the night sleep would cure me.

TOWARDS TO COMIC FIESTA 2005
Praise my lucky stars that the fever have subsided and I was well enought to go Comic Fiesta but this time its in the outskirts of KL city known as Sunway. And the only way there is either by bus or taxi. So the bus it is...a whopping 1/2 hour journey provided there is no traffic jams along the way.

There I was suited up with many aluminum plates on me but wanted to shoot photos at the same time....BAD MISTAKE!!!
So as usual gave the camera to my friend to shoot the PIX...as usual

Felt the metal cool as my body head increases haha...really HOT and COOL at the same time.
DAY1 finish with me tired out but extremely happy just like the year before.

DAY2 start in ernest...donning my armor with the main event in motion...The Solo Cosplay Competition. can't remember much that day except being asked to make hundred of photos by people around me, scared a kid off his pants due to my scary DR DOOM mask and my 'battle' with ULTRAMAN!!!

However the most memorable was this

Actually winning 'THE BEST CARTOON/ANIME CHARACTER' Award...in fact my first time winning anything personally :D :D :D

Well I wasn't the only one winning...my friends who form the groupie which won last year, did a Naruto skid and won THE BEST GROUP again.

DOUBLE BONUS

The drawback of this event would be only ONE...the camera that I gave my friend to use is a totally different Beast than the small camera he use the last time and he did not use the flash which caused some of the photos to be blur aka unusable.
Luckily, I had with me another smaller camera for photos as well as the photos from another friend.

So another resolution I've made from this year's experience

PHOTOGRAPHY ON THE FIRST DAY AND COSPLAY ALL THE WAY ON THE SECOND

So far merging Cosplay and Photography had given me such Bliss that it was indescribable by simpler terms.

However, the following year will bring events, experiences and incidences that would ultimately change my perception on both of these Passions upside down.

AT THE BEGINNING 2005
2004 disappeared right after Comicfiesta 2004...comparatively nothing much is as interesting as the event itself and comes the year 2005.

It was at this time, I hang out with Kenneth who happen to be in photography for many years hence. I showed him some of the comic fiesta photos and he's quite impressed with the costumes mainly Malice Mizers

Due to the popularity of Ragnarok Online, there was an event related to it held at MidValley Megamall...so all of us decided to go there for a one day trip.

However, the bus there is slow, hot and it's time schedule is in shambles(especially waiting for passenger at the small town and such)...okok upon reaching there, I don my Crusader costume and was photographed by some pressmen...sweet!!!

And guess what....

THE GANG THAT WON THE CF04 GROUP COMPETITION IS THERE IN FULL COSTUME!!!

Had the same FUN I had there as I did at Comic Fiesta 2004. played some mini-games there but my armor is really stopping me from hitting the targets. Toss the camera to my friend as usual but he took less pictures unlike that time last year though.

"PERHAPS I SHOULD TAKE THEM PICTURES MYSELF" I thought

The RO cosplay contest were on ...a ll of us including the models went up on stage to the adoration of the masses. I was one vote short of winning something, at least Assassin Danial got a rather large soft toy for his troubles(his costume takes him almost an hour to wear)

It wasn't long before the main celebrity appears

After that, we change, getting ready to get back home...a rather monotonously bus ride back to Ipoh. Later, I found out that one of the helpers on the bus is none other than a cousin of mine..talk about a small world.

ACQUISITION OF ANOTHER PASSION THAT RIVALS COSPLAY
As I continue to hand out with Kenneth, I noticed that I'm getting drawn into photography and it didn't take long...it was almost CNY that I purchased

This suddenly plunged me into a collision course towards photography. Also by taking up photography, it really pulls me away from the PS2 gaming couch toward the great outdoors like Kuala Kangsar and Taiping as well as Bukit Merah for some photoshooting fun.

Later I joined the local Ipoh photographers club(Foto Imej Perak-FIP) where the secretary is none other than a church member whom i knew...talk about an even smaller world haha. The amount of photo taking have greatly improved my skills till I found the camera wanting and after a little poisoning from my local camera vendor(POON FOTO) where I hand out, I bought this

Nikon D50...I'm really into the DARKSIDE now.

For the rest of the year...I busied my self with lots of phototaking some was organized by FIP themselves. There i met a fellow photographer known as Tan but we now call him Mr. Large Aperture(more info on that as we go along)...well he soon became one of my photographic mentors.

PREPARATIONS 2005
The new photographic experience did not dampen my cosplaying spirit though...so to further improve my new found cosplay modus oprandi which is Armor, I decided to do another armor character and this time I'm gonna be a BAD GUY...why? Bad Guys are Cool

to really replicate that suit of steel armor, I really went all out for it. Rather using some light weight synthetic metallic materials, I opt for real metal that is Aluminum which could be bought in abundance in the local hardware shops for a price.

The work starts mostly in my college lab where I was the administrator there and it seemed the BOSS decide to allow me to use it maybe thanks to my dedication to my office work...he didn't verbally approve it, neither did he disallowed it.

It was hard work not to mention, I was the 'official' photographer for two of my cousins' wedding as well. And in the process one of my lenses broke and I had to buy a replacement.

Anyway the stage is set for me to do something new...the mixture of both cosplay and Photography that would still fire me up even now.

TALE OF A COSGRAPHER - PART 3 (CIRCA 2004)

ALL AROUND THE YEAR 2004
2004 came without much of a hitch except an occasional bump into friends and stuffs. But the most significant part of 2004, me and the rest of the Ipoh coser are hooked to a MMORPG known as Ragnarok Online.

Tenkawa as our leader of the group within the game...I opt for a Warrior, so I took the Swordsman character which ultimately upgraded to Knight. It was fun while it lasted but soon the game was illegally hi-jacked with botters(players who do not want to spend too much time playing it, use automated programs to play the game). Played it alone for sometime before I decide to call it quits.

Once again, I decide to open a Doujin booth for ComicFiesta 2004...quess my itchy drawing fingers cannot resist drawing another of my favourite Epic...loosely based on the Story of Joan Of Arc. Drawing started in the middle of the year but managed to finish on time phew...not to mention the Cosplay I'm gonna do this year.

PREPARATIONS FOR COMIC FIESTA 2004
As for playing RO for quite sometime, we all thought of organizing a cosplay group of RO characters. As for me, I have a choice of warriors to choose from but I opt for the RO Crusader character

And this is my first time doing armour...I though of nothing better than what I can get from the local hardware shop(rubber sheets, barbecue mesh wires and nilon strings), tailoring shops(thread and needles) as well as paper boxes I got from my office.

Made the armor a little unwieldy and heavy but it was usable. Didn't know how to make props but got the idea of making a pole axe(blade using the mounting board, the shaft from my mother's rotten broomstick haha)...the shield from a recycled curved plastic and mounting boards.

Due to the sheer size of item I need to bring to the convention, I bough a huge travelling case with wheels on it as well.

ONWARD TO COMIC FIESTA 2003
This time, my parent didn't follow me to KL since my Ipoh coser friends are going together with me. I soon discovr, travelling with the huge stuffs is not really that user-friendly...but what the heck, a cosplayer have to do what a cosplayer have to do.

COMIC FIESTA 2004 - DAY1
As for Comicfiesta 2004 was held at a place where I have no knowledge of, I took a cab myself there with my case and everything...went there don my armor and try to organize my booth.

However, I encounter the same problem I had when i was opening a booth last year....the lack of help on manning the booth as well as sluggish sales(in fact no sale at all)...only got interviewed by a TV3 reporter and I gave her a little gift, a doujin...managed to make friends with the guy manning his booth next to mine.

Later, I gave the camera to my friend and allow him to shoot photos with it...one problem solved but I couldn't solve the booth problem.

So after a while, I completely abandoned my booth and went walking around in armor. boy, is the armor heavy!!!
It was then i was mugged by people asking my to take photos with them...maybe no one have ever seen a warrior like that before...i happily obliged at this Cosplay Celebrity Status haha

Through out the day, I had to rest my tired shoulders several times and the huge chest plate I had on is really causing me a little trouble eating and drinking.

I end the day in a mix feeling mood. Perhaps the next day should be beter, I tell myself.

COMIC FIESTA 2004 - DAY2
So the next day, I decided to abandon my booth completely and just cosplay as it is.
And the second day is where most of the cospalyers will show thmselves in full force. And it was that time my fellow compatriot would join me cosplaying Ragnarok Online.

And about the same time, many other Ragnarok Online Cosplayers appeared and we made fast-friends in no time.

After talking for a while, we decided to try our luck at the "GROUP COSPLAY COMPETITION" by doing a performance as a group...WE DECIDE TO DO A BATTLE SCENE IN RAGNAROK ONLINE TRADITION.

There were many notable cosplayers there as well

And this group of Cosmic Cosplayers....I didn't know which series or characters they are cosplaying.

It wasn't long before the group competition start nad we did our best since we didn't have any prepared script or background music to begin with...just some shouts before the fighting starts with everyone down at the end with a roar of approval from the crowds.
The other groups came and went with their own brand of performance...I don't really get the jokes or sometimes the story line of those performance though.

At the end...when the results are announced...guess what?

WE WON!!! IT WAS A REAL SURPRISE!!!

At the end of ComicFiesta 2004, we are all on CLOUD NINE...as happy as can be.

And as for me, I came up with two resolutions

1. NO MORE DOUJINING FOR ME...TAKE FULL TIME AS COSPLAYER
AND
2. I DECIDED FROM NOW ON, MY SIGNATURE COSPLAY WOULD BE...ARMOUR HAHA

But little did I know something else would come into my life that would juggle my cosplay plans as well in 2005
